interesting day

Well, it wasn't my first earthquake, but it was by far the strongest I have ever felt. Central Virginia does get the occasional temblor, but it's usually just a quick jolt that people think may have been a sonic boom.

This one felt like a paint mixer.

No damage that I've seen but there are scattered reports of ceiling tiles and walls and chimneys falling. Most of us live in brick buildings around here. Local building codes do not require much when it comes to making it through an earthquake. There are even some school districts that will be closed tomorrow.

Today was also the first day of my web design class. It kinda got swept aside in the excitement of the ground shaking though. I think it will go well, but it's kinda hard to tell from just one class.

On Saturday, my candidate made the roster of nominees for City Council, so I'll be working on the campaign through November. Yay. That was a long night - the results came out at about two in the morning. I'm really glad that Kathy won. Now that she has the nomination she has a very good chance of winning a seat. Republicans aren't popular in Charlottesville. We still have a lot of work ahead but it feels so good right now.
