Still more pictures from the Sonora Desert Museum.
For those of you who are sick of birds, well that's it for them. I think Dada was disappointed that I didn't get more, but, well, he can go next time. ;)
I do have more pictures in the gallery, and a few more to add.

Here are some more of my pictures from the Sonora Desert Museum. I could have spent all week there.
More pictures later. I have 41 pictures in the gallery now, and still have a few more to upload.

Mom came home today. I had to drive back to Richmond to pick her up, but it was an easier drive then last night - no rain to deal with today. The airline lost her checked bag, but found it quickly. It was delivered by UPS a little while ago. We weren't really worried about it, as Mom had left only clothing in it and there is still plenty she could wear here. Last night in the hotel in Chicago, on the other hand...
I got Mom to drive back from Richmond, and that turned out to be a fun drive. At one point, we were followed by a real asshole in a red sportscar - he was tailgating Mom as she tried to pass a slower driver. He had his flashers on and was weaving impatiently in his lane. Nice guy. He roared past us as soon as Mom pulled into the right lane, and started to do the same thing to another driver unlucky enough to be in the left lane.
Mom and I noticed the long antenna on the dark grey car behind him, and thought it might be a police car.
Sure enough, we saw blue lights start flashing and the asshole was pulled over. Mom and I were very happy.
Later, we passed a marked state trooper's car in an obvious speed trap (once you turned the corner and saw him beside the road). And then, we were passed by a red sports car going way too fast in the left lane, with his flashers on.
Yep, it was the same guy.
And, yes, he was pulled over again. I cackled when I saw it.
I brought home about two pounds of beads, and have them all unpacked, bagged, and sorted. I'm going to have a lot of fun playing with this stuff. I think my best finds were some handmade copper pendants that were unlike anything I had ever seen. Mom is jealous that I grabbed one that she wanted, but she got the rainbow bead that I wanted so I guess we're even.
I have more pictures loaded into my scrapbook, and will do a post on them soon. I am also under orders to teach my father how to do that. I think he'll be amazed at how easy it is to post pictures online.
A little bit of sleep last night and a long nap this afternoon did me a world of good. I really wanted to go to Technicon, but I couldn't make it. I hope I'll see everyone there next year, and hopefully sooner than then. The Virginia Renaissance Faire starts next month, and I know I'll be going at least one day.
It's good to be home, but I already miss Tuscon too. I really had fun last week.
I miss my cats, too, but I get to see them tomorrow. I hope they forgive us for the stay at the vet's office.

These are all from the Sonora Desert Museum.
These are just a few of the pictures I took there. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get some time to crop and upload some more.

I made it!

These guys were right outside the airport. Quite a way to greet travelers from outside the southwest.
Now I go crash.

Most of my stuff is packed. I'm just waiting on the load of laundry to finish drying. I need to pack clothes and (obviously) my computer. I have decided that I will buy some new socks there. I do not have it in me to sort through a mountain of black socks tonight.
My cats are already boarding at the vet. It feels so wrong to not have them here with me. Scout is supposed to me on my knee. Rowan is supposed to be meowing for attention. Imp is supposed to get in my way when I go to the bathroom.
All of the sharp and pointy things have been removed from my purse, which I then decided not to take. My new camera bag holds everything that I'll need to carry with me. I have new books to read.
I think I was a teenager the last time I boarded an airplane.
I should travel more.
Mind you, I'm likely to be reminded of the many reasons why I haven't flown in so long tomorrow. TSA, crowded plane, bad food, delays, running through the airport, finding someplace that sells what I forget to pack.
But I still think this is going to be fun.
Now, let's see if I can sleep tonight.

- Mood:
excited
I can't believe it's almost here. On Sunday, I'm flying out to Tuscon for a week. I can hardly wait.
Tonight, Mom and I went shopping for luggage, and I now have two wheeled bags to cram stuff into and run through the airports with. And a new camera bag (of course I'll be taking pictures - be prepared for picspam!). I'll be making some beaded markers tomorrow before work. Eep. Today was my last day off before the trip, and I was completely lazy.
Wow, Tuscon. I love the desert and I haven't seen it for years.
I'll be taking my laptop (to connect to the navigation system I got for Christmas) so I'll be able to post pictures and updates while I'm there. Somehow I doubt I'll be keeping up with all of the comms, however.
agirlnamedohio, want to meet up?
