This was just reported on WVIR

"Some rooftop thieves are dropping in on businesses in the Barracks Road Shopping Center and making off with cash.

Both break-ins happened late Sunday night. The first break-in was at the Ben and Jerry's and the second was at Vision Works. The robber cut two holes in the roof of the building giving him access to both stores.

Police say this looks like the work of a pro.

"They didn't find as much forensic material left behind as you would find in a routine burglary," said Captain Chip Harding with the Charlottesville Police Department.

Store owner Doug Barrese said, "It's terrible to be the victim of any kind. Our hope is to move forward and try to remain positive."

Police say the thief had to be injured because it looks like he fell onto a vanity, breaking a good chunk of it off.

Investigators have combed local hospitals, but so far, they have come up empty handed.

Both of these break-ins happened at the shopping center I work in.

I actually heard about the Ben & Jerry's break in the day it happened. The brother of one of my coworkers was supposed to start his new job there that day, and found the place surrounded by police when he showed up. It surprises me that it took this long to make the local news. For once, I am a little bit glad that B&N didn't get the second floor of the building.
