My head hurts. My joints hurt. My chest hurts. Not even Nyquil seems to be helping that much anymore. Bleah.

I seem to have come down with the chest cold from hell. I can't sleep very well, when I wake up I hurt even more, and I just don't have the energy to do much of anything else. I constantly have to cough but it makes me head hurt so much.

And this is me feeling a lot better than I did the day before yesterday.

I really hope I can make it through the day tomorrow. I called out for today, which I know was a real pain in the ass for all of my coworkers. But I was half dead.

There was one bit of excitement on Friday that broke through my fog of pain-and-feeling-like-shit. The fire alarm went off. Oh, joy. All I needed was a loud screech and flashing lights going off in the store while we try to convince everyone that it would be a good idea to leave. One woman truly amazed me. I caught her walking toward the back of the store and I called out to her "Ma'am, that's the fire alarm. We have to get everyone out of the store!"

She turned towards me, holding her fingers against her ears to block out as much of the cacophony as she could. "Not until I pee," she informed me, and walked off to the restrooms, leaving me with my jaw agape.

It turned out that a customer had leaned against the alarm, but still....

ugh

Pieck 2
This cold needs to die. I have to be at work at eleven tomorrow and I give it until then to go away or I will find a way to take severe retribution.

My head hurts, my throat hurts, my joints feel funny, and it feels like it's about ten degrees in the house.

Enough already.

And Virginia politics continues to raise my hackles. The latest George Allen ads are attacking the books that Jim Webb has written, calling them sexist and deviant because of the sex scenes. Apparently, the creators of these spots haven't read any recent novels, or simply believe that the average voter hasn't. Bleah. I want this election to be over, although I may not like some of the results. I think the Democrats may retake much of Washington, but the disgusting Anti-Marriage Amendment is all too likely to pass. The thought of it makes my stomach hurt, and that doesn't mix well with the thrice-cursed cold.

On a completely different note:

Jenn, you are a wonderful person. I'm sorry that you had to deal with your nanny's stroke, but the fact that you were there for her at the hospital may have saved her life. I hope the doctors and nurses involved realize that.

Edit for those who don't live in Virginia: The amendment I referred to says that a valid marriage can only be between a man and a woman, and also forbids legal contracts between same-sex couples and could also do away with many rights of unmarried heterosexuals. I will continue to refer to it as the Anti-Marriage amendment as if it makes any difference what I call it.
