faker
So, the local university has a quarterback on the football team who was caught with alcohol before he was legally allowed to have it. Oops! Hai thar probation!

One (obvious) condition of his probation? No booze. At all.

His reaction? Not only does he drink, he posts pictures of himself getting tipsy on FaceBook!

That's right folks! Yet another UVA student has proven to be an absolute moron! Oh well then.

So, this morning, one of the local stations is running a poll asking people if the UVA football coach has done the right thing in kicking said absolute moron off the football team.

The really scary thing? One quarter of the responders so far have said that the guy should still be on the team.

*sigh*

And guys? Thank you for all of the responses to my last post. I really appreciate your support. It means a lot to me.

He's a football player. I thought a conviction for something stupid was a requirement for being selected?

That's only true of the pros. In some college teams, that isn't required.

So, for the first time in his college life, he's ahead of the curve :-)

Exactly! I'm sure he will find the right college team soon!

one quarter of the responders think that drinking is a way of life and that Al-Anon, ACOA, and Alcoholics Anonymous are just scams to get your... time... (well they can't be after money if they don't ask for money...) and that alcoholism isn't a real disease. or at the very least, one quarter of the responders think that drinking is inevitable in college.

hooray for being abnormal!

*sigh*

I'm telling Sports Guy today that he needs to start referring to him as "peter lalich, huge dumbass." but I don't think that's going to fly. :( He'll at least find it amusing. :)

There's going to be some big debates over this at work, because there's one guy who thinks that UVA is the best thing on the planet, football doubly so. (Yeah, don't get me started on that guy, I am seriously ready to punch him.) Then there's a bunch that think that underage drinking isn't that bad, boys will be boys bullshit.

I can believe it, I'm constantly pained by the number of people who think university football players should get special treatment. Instead they allow them to embarrass the school. If I were in charge of the program I would insist that players be held to higher standards than the norm, pay the piper to the letter of the law when they do wrong, and for players to take diction lessons before ever being allowed to speak to the media. I fear for the future of our universities when I hear some players talk.

I thought colleges were supposed to have minimum intelligence requirements for admission...oh, wait, it's UVA.

With sports around here all that matters is having a winning team. Guys who drive drunk and kill other people in car crashes don't often go to prison and usually go free. After all, they're either pro's or on the way to being a pro.

I don't believe sports figures whether known or in college should receive special treatment; i.e., a slap on the wrist.

I get angry that when I was in college the jocks on the basketball team would walk up and down the halls bouncing basketballs during class time and were literally 'given' grades. One coach was fired over the issue. He said 'you told me to do whatever it takes to have a winning team' ://
